First Office of the Future Project

Last week, Glumac, one of the country’s leading sustainable engineering firms, announced that its Irvine, CA office is the first completed “Office of the Future” pilot project under the new North American Office of the Future (OTF) Consortium. Tambient and tambient control hubs help achieve actual operating power usage of between 0.24 and 0.3 watts per square foot, which is far below the most stringent energy codes. This approach shows great promise for other corporate spaces, particularly as building owners, utility companies and local municipalities are increasingly looking to reduce energy usage, expand capacity and lower costs.

New Headquarters Goes Green

Golub Corporation, owner and operator of PriceChopper supermarkets, recently installed tambient in its new Schenectady, NY corporate headquarters. Golub’s energy-efficient building sits on a former brownfield site and is six stories, with five floors of open office space totaling 100,464 square feet. The LEED-Gold space features three tambient styles and select controls, including dimming, photo sensors and self-powered occupancy sensors.
